Lindsay Barrett George was our first guest in 2010. She stopped by to work on her new dummy—it’s about an adorable pup and ten acorns. It’s great! We could not wait for her to come in and bring us cookies from Bagel Station. They make these humongous cookies. Yes, we do have a sweet tooth at Greenwillow! Lindsay knows this, since she worked at Greenwillow Books from 1981 to 1984 as Ava Weiss’s assistant. We met about the dummy, and as soon as Lindsay left you could hear the voices in our hallway. “Where are they? Did she bring them?” We talked about those cookies all afternoon. . . . Well, we talked about the new dummy, too, bien sur! Lindsay also showed us pictures of her pet duck, Duck Duck, who lives in her house and kayaks with her. We’re suckers for cute pets . . . and cookies!

I have loved being a Greenwillow author/illustrator for…is it really 23 years???
The least I can do is bring cookies for my wonderful editors and art directors
and assistants and fellow Greenwillowers.
The new offices at 53rd are uber – cool and the view is awesome.
Maybe some day Duck Duck will be able to waddle down the halls.
Between his rapping (yes, mallards don’t quack – they rap) and Paul’s singing….
it would be an entertaining visit.
So – congrats to Greenwillow on its 35th!
And to lovely memories and creative and generous editors/golden handed
art directors and eagle- eyed wordsmiths …
and to lots Snickerdoodles in our future!
with love and gratitude,
Lindsay
Okay, so I was ALWAYS a fan of Lindsay Barrett George. But now that I know she has a pet duck? I am a SUPER-FAN! Okay, now I have to go post on the blog of my friend with the pet rooster.
Also, how come no one ever writes a blog post about when I come visit the 23rd floor? I would have brought snickerdoodles!
You gotta love someone who has a duck! And cookies are always delightful…what time is her next visit?
In my head all of Greenwillow hasn’t aged in 15 years. In real life Lindsay George hasn’t aged a molecule in 15 years. Still gorgeous as ever!

the cookies. mmm, cookies!
