The 50th anniversary edition of Amelia Bedelia is pretty special, if we do say so ourselves. It features the original text, artwork, and jacket of the original 1963 edition. PLUS, it has seven additional pages of archival photographs, sketches, and anecdotes and recollections about the inception and creation of America’s beloved literal-minded housekeeper!
And we’re giving away FIVE (that’s right, 5) copies of it. Use the form below to enter!

I haven’t read an Amelia Bedelia book in a long time, but for some reason I’ve always remembered her making baby hamburgers, tomatoes, and potatoes for baby food. I know a certain 5-year-old who adores them, though (:
My all-time favorite Amelia-ism is dressing a chicken. Classic stuff.
I love Amelia Bedelia!
Putting out the lights…on the clothes line. Always makes my 3 1/2 yo giggle.
Dressing a chicken! I had nearly forgotten! Oh, Amelia.
I grew up on Amelia drawing curtains and dressing chickens. Always with a big heart.
I’m with Deborah up there – loved the chicken and drawing the curtains. My absolute favorite growing up!
Drawing the drapes was the one I remembered best.
Amelia Bedelia was a childhood favorite which I enjoy sharing with my kids.
Roll call, planting bulbs, stripping the sheets…I’m a teacher I dressed up as Amelia Bedelia a few years ago!
Oh goodness. I most clearly remember one book where’s she’s cooking in the kitchen and she separates the eggs (one on the shelf, one on the counter) and strings the string beans. As a kid, I knew nothing about cooking, but the pictures still made me giggle.
I LOVED Amelia Bedelia when I was a little girl. I read the books over and over again when I was in 1st grade.
The drapes is the one I remember the best. But I just remember GOBBLING up her books!
I love Amelia Bedelia (in fact, my blog is named after her). Most memorable moment? When she made a sponge cake out of an actual SPONGE. What fun!
I grew up on Amelia Bedilia, I loved Amelia Bedilia! I always took her books with me on hospital visits (which I had a lot due to my disability), she really cheered me up and made me forget about the hospital. I do not have a favorite quote, sheès too funny and enjoyable to pick just one!
We read Amelia Bedelia in Story Hour yesterday and had Amelia Bedelia Chocolate Chip Cookies for snack. (Chocolate cookies with potato chips in them.) YUM!
I couldn’t get enough of Amelia Bedilia when I was growing up. (my favorite spread was the cousin who raced horses from AB Family Album). So happy to be celebrating Amelia’s 50th year.
I always remember when she dressed the turkey
Amelia Bedelia was one of my favorite books as a kid and I now read it to my kids. It still cracks me up.
Amelia Bedelia is so funny!!!
Amelia Bedelia is a great addition to any child’s library
Love her! I guess I’d pick drawing the drapes or the turkey.
My mom and I read these together when I was a kid. The one I always remember was Amelia hitting the road with a stick. Classic.
Draw the drapes, and ‘dust’ the furniture!
“Run home, Amelia!” Play Ball was my favorite. Amelia Bedelia made me feel downright competent on the little league field.
Sounds great!
My mom was a huge Amelia Bedelia fan and introduced her to each grandchild.
I love sharing these books with children at my school!
Loving sharing Amelia Bedelia with my little girl!
I love Amelia Bedelia, and I have a six year old little girl that is such an “Amea” at heart….it makes reading these books even more fun now days
So sad I missed this. These were my favorite books when I was a little girl!
