  1. My confirmation necklace that my aunt and uncle gave me. It had fallen behind my bookshelf, I thought I had lost it, but found it once my shelves were empty and it were being taken to the moving truck.

  2. I haven’t moved a lot, so I don’t know that I’ve found a bunch of forgotten treasures. No, I take that back. Moving out of my college apartment had its moments, especially when I found saved birthday cards and other mementos from friends I had made over the years. We three roommates also divvied up a bowl of seashells that we had collected on the beach together. Talk about a bittersweet moment.

Enjoy your new home!! My favorite treasure found while moving is, not surprisingly, boxes of books I’d forgotten I had stored, especially a box of read-alouds from my teaching days. Favorite book about moving . . . does The Best Nest count?

Just heard this morning about two baptismal certificates – in German – that were found in a dresser drawer under a piece of plywood! The dresser was sold before moving, but luckily, we live in a small town, so they were returned. The certificates belonged to her grandparents!

Hi Greenwillow Team, congratulations on your move!! To answer your question,
the best forgotten treasure I have found while moving is: my 3rd grade jewlery box that I had loved and it was filled with my seashells from the local beach, strawberry bubble gum pieces, purple nail polish, my charmed bracelet, and the moon ring my sister gave me for my birthday. I missed that box and forgot where I stored it in my room. The move was a great day, it helped me reconnect with my favorite childhood jewelry box and the beloved items inside it!

    Thank you,
    Lasha

    Hey Greenwillow Team!

The best forgotten treasure I ever found was the book my class made for me when I was “Citizen of the Week” in first grade! It was such a pleasure to see what people said about me all the way back then. I am still even friends with some of those people!

  8. Hey Greenwillow!

I have moved a bunch and found all sorts of treasures. The best one was probably my high school class ring. I was moving home from college and discovered it in a bag. I was so excited!

Norton Juster’s NEVILLE is a nice picture book about moving — I hadn’t read it before finding it at the library this week.

The worst treasure I ever found while moving was an artificial christmas tree full of spiders. We opted to leave it behind.

The best forgotten treasure I found was a purse with $200 in it that I found once.

I really like finding things that used to matter a lot at some point in my life but are now insignificant. I also love that I come across books that I’ve forgotten I own!
